How to Protect The People Who Use Health Services or Social Assistance

As part of the quality of regulation Care Commission, health and social organizations are required to demonstrate that they can safeguard their service users from abuse. The regulation says that it should take appropriate measures in place that allows you to identify and prevent potential abuse to occur and respond appropriately to allegations of abuse. Abuse can refer to any form of abuse, including sexual, physical, psychological, theft, or negligence. There are also requirements defined in relation to the use of containment practices to ensure they are legitimate and appropriate.

As a service provider there are a number of things you can do to ensure that it will implement all reasonable measures available to safeguard service users. These include:

Training staff to understand aspects of the procedural safeguards that are of interest to them, and ensure that staff understand the signs of abuse, and what to do and who to contact if they suspect or are advised to abuse. This includes ensuring that staff take all allegations of abuse seriously, and have to deal with any complaints or grievances fairly, treated with respect and dignity of the function. Staff should also be trained in legal and regulatory restraint.

Educating users to be aware of what is acceptable and what is classified as an abuse. In addition, service users should be informed of how you can report abuse and should be encouraged to think that your choice is a real option for them. The promotion of the rights and care options that are specific guidelines of the Quality Committee and should be taken very seriously in order to ensure that service users from abuse.

Safeguard policies will ensure that the registered organization and the director is unable to cope with the abuse allegations, correct and formal. All actions regarding the reporting of abuse and should be recorded in a formal registration as a guarantee for their policies. These policies must be aligned with the guidelines and legislation.

Collaborate with other departments, agencies and equipment will also help minimize the risk of the occurrence of abuse and to ensure a simplified approach to the protection of their area.

All service users are at risk of abuse, not only those individuals who are considered vulnerable as the disabled or elderly. And “therefore essential that all providers of health care or social protection is to solve problems within their organization.
